The Day Room

OK so the 'Day Room' caught its name as we didnt know what to call it. Its 95% finished, it might not be to everyones taste, however its functional and hygenic.

Flooring was only 100 quid quick and easy to lay from Ikea - I know I know cheap as chips however do I care if it gets scuffed by the dogs, NOPE. The rug and blinds again from Ikea around 100 quid in total, The rug being functional with a non slip back, do I care if the dogs tread on it NOPE.

The sofas, I bought from a friend who was moving house cost 100quid brilliant, not what I was looking for but don't cry everytime the dogs or cats or Clive for that matter touch it.

The wood burner was the big spend this came in at a fantastic contemporary price of 500quid and a builder that worked for 100quid a day to take out the outdated and discusting open fireplace.

The sideboard was a steal, bought from ebay for 51 pounds by McIntosh and a short side board at that (not sure he ever knew it would be a multimedia cabinet)

From John Lewis the Lighting 110 pounds each, fantastic however with open top glass they do tend to collect dust, cleaning is not an easy job either, but they look just perfect

Again the clock was an ebay find and a half at just 99p with £4.00 pp so call it a fiver well spent.

The old radio - was a find from 'freecyle' this has been striped and the insides sold, intention is to hide surround sound speakers inside or convert to Mp3 player.

As an improvement to the room going forward, we have some art work by Steven Ladkin and also by my Daughter - (all awaiting b-spoke frames). To finish a corner suite, preferably in leather and with storage underneath.

Time

Time is a funny thing, you think you have lots of it, you wonder what others have done with it and you wonder where it has gone. On the way through time we collect Experiences, emotions, friends, Sickness, Children, property, money, debt, knowledge and don’t forget weight.

While we collect these things, we build a life for ourselves, one that in time will mature into great and good things. Our Emotional strength becomes robust, emotions are easier to control, friends are few and far between (hold onto the good ones).

Through time our Children grow and flee the nest, leaving us with yet more time, the question is then 'now what?'. Hopefully in time our property portfolio will grow and our savings will be there for a rainy day, that’s if we manage not to fall into debt collecting idle wants.

In time it seems, knowledge will feed our brains similar to that of chocolate and in time, our brains will turn to something that resembles chocolate. That same stuff is what gives us weight! Sickness will gather pace, something that stays around, like an unwanted guest that just won’t go home and its turned midnight.

In total time is better than a carrier bag, you can get all sorts in it, carry it around, hand out your goods as and when and finally when your done with time, its recycled ready for the next generation, to invent all the things we have already done.

Disbeliefs

Ok

So this Cottage is really getting to me now.
Everywhere I look there is an unfinished Job to be done. Today I have managed to tile the Kitchen floor excluding edges as I found the tile cutter I have isn’t big enough can you believe ?My neighbour will lend me his cutter but cant deliver it until tomorrow when obviously its going to rain and rain and rain just because I need to be outside baaa.

So anyhow all was going quite well when I realised that the door now wont open (woops) so I take the door off take it out into the sun an wrestle with it to cut the bottom off, I wont deny that it was hard work. I get back indoors (warm) and just as I have balanced it the dogs start to bark and can you believe it the Hire car company has finally arrived 3 days late to collect the car.

So in just the spate of one afternoon I find my self in disbelief of the things that can go wrong. (and as I just typed the latter the narrator on TV said just the same. weird)

In total I have yet another unfinished job waiting for my attention. Question is - Will Mike come round with the cutter will I have enough tiles to finish will the tiles actually stick to the floor?

What am I reading?

For those of you that were in raptures after reading Dan Browns series - then this is the next step up Paul Sussman with 'The Last Secret of the Temple'.

Paul's two great passions have always been writing and archaeology. He fulfils the former by working as a freelance journalist and the latter by spending two months of each year excavating in Egypt. He is thirty-five and lives in London with his wife.

Its hard going but makes me think harder about the plight of the Palestinians and the need of the Israeli’s. This conflict as we so politely put it, is almost as old as time itself, the reason as to why this started has been lost and now it seems its just about power the oppressed become the oppressors and the world doesn’t really know what to do.

This book looks at both sides of the coin educational and hard going at times but underneath the geeky politics and emotions is a mystery I am yet to unfold. I have become familiar with the characters blood, sweat and tears of their every day lives, (mind you I should, I have tried to finish this book 3 times so I am not being parted from it now!)

Finally I have finished this gripping story! I know more about the power of faiths and what drives them, those that have tried to defile it and those that have given their lives as protectors. With every turn of the page history unfolds itself. Myth and adventures reunite the unexpected.

Now I need an easier read!
